Water News and Information

This image shows how big a sphere would be compared to Earth if it were made of all the Earth's water. It would have a diameter of about 860 miles and a volume around 332,500,000 cubic miles. The calculations are based on estimations for all of the Earth's water including not just oceans, lakes, rivers, seas, and ice caps, but groundwater, atmospheric water, and even the water inside living creatures such as you, your cat, and all of the world's plants.

How are YOU protecting this precious resource???

The best water you can drink is likely filtered tap water.

Water from plastic bottles is laced with xenohormone (a manmade endocrine disrupter), Phthalates and other chemicals that are generally contrary to human health.

Colorado Springs Utilities has always delivered some of the best water in America.  Please compare their Water Quality Report against that of the bottled water you drink.

The best way to take bottled water with you is to reuse a glass bottle or buy a stainless steel bottle.  The glass bottle may cost you $2 and you'll have to be a bit careful as to how you handle it but the water tastes better than from plastic.  The stainless steel bottle may cost you $8-15.

Filtering your water is the best way to experience the pure, clear water that comes from our taps.  By law, all water utilities must have a certain amount of Chlorine in the water as it comes out of the tap.  This assures that no bacteria is in your water.

By using an inline charcoal filter, most of the Chlorine is removed (98% or more). It is relatively easy to add an inline filter to most refrigerator dispensed water.  The cost of the filter is about $15 per year.
